of the Eastern panhandle of West Virginia, and is
the second oldest county in West Virginia. Located
in the Shenandoah Valley and near the Potomac River,

The Jefferson Memorial Hospital is located about 15
miles away in Ranson, WV. Also the Morgan City War
Memorial Hospital is located in Berkeley Springs and
is located in Morgan County.
Communities
Located in Berkeley County West Virginia are the towns of
Martinsburg and Hedgesville, as well as Georgetown,
Falling Waters, Arden, and the town of Berkeley.
Activities
There is much to do in the Martinsburg-Berkeley
county area. Downtown Martinsburg has been
revitalized in recent years and has become a
cultural and historical hub of the area. You can
learn more about the town’s history at the many
historic exhibit houses like: the General Adam
Steven house, the Admiral Boarman house, the Belle
Boyd house and museum, and the L. Norman Dillon
Farmhouse located in Hedgesville. Also, be sure to
visit the Apollo Civic Theatre. Established in 1913,
it is one of the first theatres in West Virginia,
and today it is home to a new theatre group. If
touring historical homes does not interest you,
there is much to do in the outdoors around Berkeley
County WV. You can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing,
canoeing, white water rafting, as well as hunting
and camping in the area of Berkeley County West
Virginia. Golf is
also a popular pastime in the area, and there are
many golf clubs in this area of West Virginia. Also,
in the winter time, you can travel within the state
to enjoy some great snow skiing. In Berkeley, WV
history and nature come together to create a
beautiful area that is full of culture and southern
